Privacy Window Film

Privacy window film converts clear glazing to obscure and when applied to glass restricts people’s vision to protect sensitive areas such as a meeting room or to prevent prying eyes from seeing what equipment you have in the office. Our privacy films come in many varieties ranging from frosted to complete black/white out and mirror reflective which gives you the ability to see out when no one can see in, dependent on the greatest light source.

Privacy window film is extensively used to improve the appearance of internal partition panels and to remove the feeling of working in a goldfish bowl whilst allowing good light transmission converting existing clear glazing to obscure with little or no disruption to the workplace and where large areas of glass are used in doors and partitions

Frosted Film – if privacy is an issue or if you need to hide an unsightly view, frosted window film is the ideal choice. The film offers privacy day and night, even when the lights are on inside, unlike reflective films, and is a superb modern alternative to net curtains or other costly window treatment. These films can be applied to an entire pane or cut to a design and provide very good levels of privacy whilst allowing light to pass through. Where open office areas are divided by glazed partitions the application of frosted film makes efficient use of available space whilst allowing improved privacy.

Reflective Film – or mirrored films are also known as daylight privacy films, these films need the correct light balance as they work to the greatest light source. During daylight hours viewed from the outside only a reflection can be seen whilst occupants enjoy uninhibited views out avoiding the dingy and oppressive conditions sometimes associated with blinds.

These reflective films also provide visual security on external windows during daylight hours or at night where there is strong outside lighting or the outside area is floodlit. This type of visual security is very often required on glazing where valuable fittings, stock items or equipment may otherwise be seen. In addition to privacy these films can also control solar heat glare and gain and the transmission of UV rays.

When used on internal glazing the lighting should be balanced so that the area requiring shielding is less bright than the area on the opposite side of the glazing. The use of reflective films can create one way vision panels which are useful for covert surveillance and monitoring operations.

Blackout Film – these films come in a range from matte white, grey, silver and bronze to complete blackout and whiteout. They are a flexible, cost effective and attractive method of blocking light transmission from either direction whilst obscuring any unsightly view through a feature such as a partition or screen. Usually blackout film is required for reasons of security or interior planning where the glazing is required to be opaque, most often because of alterations or refurbishment to a building.

Blackout films can be used as follows:-

  • to disguise areas such as suspended ceilings that can be seen from outside due to being positioned below the height of the top of a window

  • the creation of two rooms by partitioning

  • to hide block walls and shelving placed hard against glazing

By providing a building with uniformity blackout films can also improve the aesthetic appearance whilst preventing views into storerooms, workshops etc.
