Bomb Blast/Security Window Film
Our Bomb Blast (ASF) Safety/Security window films up-grade sub standard glazing to meet the requirements of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulation 1992 and Regulation 14 1996. Safety and security films are also specified to provide solutions to many other glass related safety problems including bomb blast protection.
If glass is not toughened or laminated it is extremely fragile and very dangerous. Glass will break if fallen against and glass shards resulting from breakage can cause injury and possibly death. It is necessary not only to protect against injury but against the possibility of legal action which might follow an accident see our section Regs & Standards.
Numerous companies have seen the benefit of installing bomb blast film after seeing what devastation flying glass can cause from past atrocities. Many films fitted in the 1980's and early 1990's have reached the end of their useful life and, subject to current security requirements, should be replaced. Deficiencies include poor adhesion, loss of strength and embrittlement due to ultra violet degradation. Although some of these films may have some effective life left many of films are only 100 micron (.004") compared to the current minimum recommendation of at least 175 micron (.007") in thickness.
As part of our glazing protection appraisal we can test the efficacy of such films using methods as developed by the PSA/SPS/EEB. The latest safety security films, as well as having a 'longer life', are available not only in clear but in a range of reflective and tinted shades. Reducing excess sunlight means that visibility can be improved on computer screens by stopping visible glare which when reduced helps to combat eyestrain and associated headaches in the workplace..jpg)
Bomb blast film will not prevent glass breaking but it will stop it from traveling any significant distance and which can effectively halve the distance that a building’s glazing is safe from a lorry bomb to just 100 metres.
